Associations
Tom is on the Board of the Southern California Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (SCACCE); the Legislative Alliance of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (having served as its first Chair); and on the Board of Mobility 21a five county alliance, on behalf of Federated Chambers of Ventura County, representing business interests in the county. He is a member of the Western Association of Chamber Executives and is a past member of Board of Regents of Western Institute, Tucson (Institute of Organization Management—US Chamber of Commerce), He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Camarillo and serves as Rotary International Chair for the club.
Past chambers of commerce experience
Tom has fifteen years experience in Chamber of Commerce management positions. Prior to Camarillo he was President/CEO of the 1200-member Sedona-Oak Creek Canyon Chamber of Commerce and managed Sedona Destination Marketing, the visitor bureau for the area. He came to Sedona from Williams, AZ, where he was Executive Director of the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce.
While in Northern Arizona, Tom was instrumental in forming the Arizona Tourism Alliance, a statewide association of organizations and businesses, and the Northern Arizona Marketing Coalition, serving as its chair for two years.
Business experience
Prior to his chamber management career, Tom spent many years in marketing and management positions of consumer product companies in California, Pennsylvania and Arizona. He was Vice President, Marketing of the Grand Canyon Railway. In California, Kelley was president of Hexol in San Francisco, and he spent 15 years in the California wine industry including as VP and general manager of one of California highest volume wineries.
Education
Tom Kelley received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University and his Bachelors of Science from University of Minnesota. Tom also graduated from the Institute for Organization Management, a four-year program of the US Chamber of Commerce at the University of Arizona, and has taken many courses in economic development and chamber management.
Facilitator and teacher
Tom Kelley facilitates planning retreats for other chambers and non-profit organizations and he gives seminars and workshops on marketing planning and marketing techniques.
Tom Kelley grew up in Minneapolis and he served four years in the US Air Force, departing at the rank of Captain. He is married to Ruth Hofmeister.
