Camarillo Young Professionals Group (YPG) – Committee Job Duties

 

Chair
Fernando Mora, Sage Network, Inc.


The Chair is held accountable to the Camarillo Chamber Board of Directors for the actions and progress of the YPG organization. The Chair will communicate with the Chamber board about all projects and meetings, run all meetings and delegate projects to YPG members. The Chair will help develop and support other committee members in their positions. If a committee member is unable to fulfill their duties or obligations, it is the Chair’s responsibility to find a replacement for that position. The Chair will also be responsible for coordinating administrative efforts with Chamber staff. The Chair must be able to organize and motivate people to work well together for the benefit of the YPG organization. The chair will be held accountable for the success of the YPG organization.

Vice Chair

The Vice Chair is responsible for coordinating the marketing and organizational efforts of YPG. This includes supporting project leaders in their efforts to create, organize and manage projects or events. The Vice Chair will periodically check in with other members who are implementing YPG projects to get status updates and determine if additional support for projects is needed. The Vice Chair will monitor projects and communicate the status and needs of the projects to the Chair. The Vice Chair will assume the position of Chair whenever the Chair is unavailable.

Secretary

The Secretary’s primary function is to take notes at all meetings/events for circulation to the membership base. Additionally, this person is responsible for collecting notes from the Committee Delegates for dissemination to the membership base. The Secretary will be responsible for both the pre and post write up of all YPG mixers and events. Committee Delegates will contact the Secretary to relay any important information that needs to be relayed to YPG concerning the committee they attended. Please note, all communications must be sent to Chamber staff for approval and distribution to the membership base.

Event & Sponsorship Coordinator

The Event/Sponsorship Coordinator will be responsible for acquiring locations for mixers and events as well as sponsors to help cover the costs of the events. The Coordinator position will work with the Vice Chair and the appropriate project leader to

help ensure the projects and events are successful. The Coordinator will be responsible for finding a meal sponsor or supplier for all “Lunch with a Purpose” and quarterly meetings and for leading the YPG annual event (to be determined). Whenever YPG partners with other organizations for a project, the Event/Sponsorship Coordinator will act as liaison to the other group.

Membership Coordinator

The Membership Coordinator’s primary focus is to bring new professionals into the organization. It is the Membership Coordinator’s responsibility to attend meetings, mixers and other events in an effort to reach out and attract new members. In this role, the Membership Coordinator will be responsible for approaching prospects and communicating the mission and purpose of YPG. The membership coordinator should always be prepared to talk about YPG and promote its events and membership. The person assuming this role should be highly motivated, outgoing, have good communication skills and a strong knowledge of YPG mission and purpose.

Professional Developer

The Professional Developer will support YPG members in their professional development by planning and organizing professional speakers at the “Lunch with a Purpose” and the Quarterly YPG meetings. The Developer will be responsible for contacting and arranging for the speakers at these meetings. All YPG members who have potential contacts for speakers will make the introductions to the Developer and the Developer will be responsible for following up and booking the speaker. It is very important to have good communication skills for this job.

Committee Delegate

The Committee Delegate’s primary function is to help develop and lead the YPG organization to success. It is the Committee Delegate’s responsibility to attend the YPG Executive Committee meetings each month and to bring their insight, opinions, personality and experience to the table in an effort to make YPG prosper. Delegates will be assigned at least one of the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce Committee meetings to attend and represent YPG. Within one week of the meeting, the Delegate will communicate the key information from the meeting to the Secretary so the information can be disseminated to everyone. If the Delegate feels a topic needs to be addressed at the YPG monthly executive committee meeting, it is their responsibility to bring it to the Chair’s attention.
