World War II Aviation Museum

Welcome back to 1942. Talk to the pilots and crew who were “over there”. WWII history comes alive with renovated vintage aircraft such as a C-46, a C-131, a Japanese Zero, plus historical displays, interactive exhibits, aviation art and a research library.
Open Tuesday-Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Donation Requested: Adults: $5.00; Kids 7-16: $2.00

Camarillo Ranch House

Built in 1892 and the longtime residence of Adolfo Camarillo and his family, Camarillo Ranch House has been renovated to preserve the property as a cultural, educational and event center. The most notable structure on the Ranch is the large, white Victorian Camarillo House. The 4 1/2 acre Ranch also includes a large red barn, a stable and tack room. The Ranch is open for guided tours and is available for events such as weddings, private tours, parties, and film shoots. Call ahead for visitation hours.
Open Wednesdays and Sundays: 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
and Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Pleasant Valley Historical Museum

The Pleasant Valley Historical Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Pleasant Valley, the Oxnard Plain and adjacent areas where many of Camarillo’s pioneers settled before there was a City of Camarillo. Admission is free. 
The Museum and Garden (see below) are open from 
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday, except Holidays.
Admission is free.

Pleasant Valley Botanical Garden
, associated with the Historical Museum at the same location, is a beautiful park-like area that features plants and trees indigenous to the Pleasant Valley and the surrounding region. The garden includes a large gazebo that is available for rental as a breathtaking setting for weddings, anniversaries and similar functions. Kitchen facilities are available.

St Mary Magdalen Historic Chapel
On East Ventura Boulevard, just off Highway 101
The St. Mary Magdalen Chapel has been Camarillo’s best-known landmark since Juan Camarillo completed it in 1914.

RECREATION & PARKS

Camarillo residents and visitors value their leisure time and the Camarillo area provides many fun and exciting opportunities for them.

Enjoy the outdoors!

Outdoor lovers have easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands National Park, the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, and Los Padres National Forest. Miles of jogging and biking paths and lanes wind their way through Camarillo’s neighborhoods, while beautiful, clean ocean beaches for swimming, sunning, sailing and surfing are just minutes away.

Parks: In the city itself there are 18 neighborhood and 5 community parks, along with more than 30 miles of city bicycle routes, as well as picturesque rural roads for biking. The parks are owned and operated for the benefit of residents and visitors by Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District.  Facilities are available for tennis, soccer, swimming, picnicking and other sports & activities.

Golf Courses: Camarillo is a true haven for the golf enthusiast! Two private courses, the prestigious Spanish Hills and Las Posas Country Clubs, offer 18-hole championship play, elegant clubhouses and restaurants. Courses open to the public include Sterling Hills Golf Club and Camarillo Springs Public Golf Course. More than a dozen first class golf courses are located within 30 minutes of Camarillo. EVENTS

Summer: Cultural, civic and social activities are abundant in and around Camarillo. The Performing Arts Pavilion in Constitution Park is the home of the Camarillo Arts Council Summer Concerts in the Park. This summer’s schedule.

June: Annual Greek Festival is held at the Camarillo Airport.  Greek delicacies including hand-made Baklava are available along with live Greek music, drink, foods, dancing and prizes throughout the Festival ~ fun for all ages.

July: Camarillo Fiesta and Street Fair is a giant street festival with booths demonstrating and selling arts, crafts and unique items, plus rides and entertainment, and lots of good food.

August: Camarillo Air Show takes off each year at the Camarillo Airport, a former Air Force Base, with demonstrations of historic aircraft and much more.

December: The Christmas Parade is a delight for visitors and residents.  Camarillo Old Town also holds the Camarillo Holiday Festival.

Year Round: Camarillo Old Town hold events and festivals year round, including: Art Walks along Ventura Blvd. and adjacent streets.

Mid-May: The California Strawberry Festival, in mid-May ~ one of the premier outdoor festivals in the nation, the California Strawberry Festival kicks off summer fun at the picturesque 75-acre Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard-California’s Strawberry Coast.

April: The Point Mugu Air Show, a three-day event, is one of the more popular attractions in Ventura County. More than 300,000 people attended the 2001 Air Show featuring the U.S. Air Force "Thunderbirds". The Air Show also features aviation simulators, current and vintage aircraft, food and beverage booths and souvenirs. Admission to the base and parking are free.

MEETINGS, CONFERENCES & WEDDINGS

Unique facilities offer venues for weddings, conferences, and business meetings in and around Camarillo such as Camarillo Ranch House; as well as Sterling Hills, Spanish Hills and Las Posas Country Clubs. Several of the restaurants and hotels offer meeting space, and California State University Channel Islands is offering facilities for conferences and academic meetings.
